The junior professor will work in the areas of probability theory and statistics in research and teaching, preferably with a focus on statistical learning theory or uncertainty quantification for stochastic processes. First internationally visible research contributions are expected. The field of research should complement the expertise at the institute and should offer possibilities for collaboration, possibly in areas like high-dimensional statistics, mean-field games/control or statistics for stochastic partial differential equations. Participation within third-party funding activities of the institute is welcome.
Teaching duties concern bachelor and master courses in mathematics, statistics and neighboring subjects. A high quality of teaching is required. An adequate participation in the academic self-administration is expected.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in conjunction with § 102c combined with § 102a of the ‘Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
