The Department of Mathematical Sciences wish to appoint a Research Associate to work on the research project "Geometric Representation Theory and Finite W-algebras" funded by the UKRI Future Leaders fellowship scheme. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with Dr Lewis Topley on his research project, which aims to develop the structure and representation theory of both finite and affine W-algebras over fields of positive characteristic. You will also be strongly encouraged to develop an independent research agenda. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following topics of research: * algebraic groups and Lie algebras * vertex algebras, * modular representation theory You will join the Algebra, Geometry and Number Theory team, which currently comprises 14 members working in Representation Theory, Ring Theory, Algebraic Geometry, Differential Geometry, Computational Algebra and Number Theory. This is a fixed-term position to start as soon as possible until at least January 2024. Informal enquiries should be directed to Lewis Topley (lt803@bath.ac.uk) but please ensure that your application is submitted via the University website. |
