The Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences at The College of Wooster invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to start in August 2022. The department has twelve full-time faculty, and offers majors in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Statistical & Data Sciences, graduating 50-75 seniors each year. The successful candidate will teach five courses annually, along with mentoring senior thesis projects as part of the College’s Independent Study program, and will participate in the College’s interdisciplinary programs including First Year Seminar. A Ph.D. in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related field is required. We place a strong emphasis on experiential learning, with every student completing a year-long senior thesis project and many participating in our unique Applied Methods & Research Experience summer consulting program (AMRE). We seek a versatile candidate who can contribute to both the Statistical & Data Sciences and Mathematics programs through their teaching and mentorship of undergraduate research. The candidate's research statement should focus on the ways that their research might engage with Wooster’s Independent Study program and/or our AMRE program.
