The Reed College Mathematics Department invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in mathematics, to begin August 2022. Applicants should have completed their PhD dissertation in mathematics or applied mathematics by time of appointment. An Equal Opportunity Employer, Reed values diversity and encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups.

Applications must be submitted through the MathJobs.org website and should include:
• a cover letter addressing how your teaching and scholarship are suited to the liberal arts college environment,
• a CV,
• a teaching statement,
• a research statement, and
• three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses teaching.

We are seeking candidates with a strong research program who are able to effectively engage undergraduates from a wide range of backgrounds in research. The successful candidate is expected to teach the equivalent of five semester courses over the academic year and to supervise senior theses. The senior thesis is a cornerstone of the Reed College academic experience. It is a year-long project, required of every student, which culminates in a written document and an oral defense. Applicants are encouraged to suggest potential thesis projects and to describe their past experience mentoring student research.

Reed College is a community that values cultural diversity and inclusive educational practices as essential to the excellence of our academic program. Throughout your application materials, please describe the ways in which your past and current teaching, scholarship, mentorship, and/or community service has supported these values. Alternatively, you may include a separate statement regarding your efforts to support these values. In either case, please convey the ways in which your work at Reed will support the commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion articulated in the College's diversity and anti-racism statements (http://www.reed.edu/diversity/).

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, but they should be received by November 24, 2021 to guarantee full consideration. Any questions may be directed to the chair of the search committee, Kyle Ormsby,
