The STEM Education Innovation & Research Institute (SEIRI) and the Department of Mathematical Sciences at IUPUI invites applications for a joint post-doctoral position in mathematics education, evaluation and assessment or related fields with experience in … to begin August 1, 2022 or later, for a one or two year appointment. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per year, with at least one course each term, … The post-doc would be an integral part of SEIRI (mentored by Pratibha Varma-Nelson) and contribute to the research activities of SEIRI, which would include journal club, attending staff meetings, consult with faculty on their SSG proposals and serve as evaluator on some CAREER and other proposals. This appointment is intended to further train the post-doc in program assessment and evaluation skills and grant writing/acquisition to be competitive for a tenure-track assistant professor in Mathematics Education in a Department of Mathematical Sciences. In addition to enhancing the quality of the undergraduate mathematics courses in diversity and retention.

IUPUI is Indiana's urban research and academic health sciences campus. As one of the largest academic units on campus serving more than 13,000 students each year, the Department of Mathematical Sciences is central to the mission of IUPUI to advance the State of Indiana and the intellectual growth of its citizens to the highest levels. With 52 fulltime faculty in the department, we offer programs of study leading to Purdue University B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics, including a B.S. and M.S. in Math Education and in Applied Statistics. The Department also offers a Ph.D. degree in biostatistics in collaboration with the Department of Biostatistics in the Fairbanks School of Public Health and the IU School of Medicine.

Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate (at the time of appointment) in mathematics education, mathematics, statistics or related areas, a strong research program, and the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Applicants will be expected to show an emerging track record of publications, evidence of the ability to engage in independent and/or collaborative (inter)disciplinary research, and existing funding.
