*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The University of Michigan, Department of Mathematics, invites applications for Postdoctoral Assistant Professorships and Byrne Research Assistant Professorships to begin September 2022. These non-tenure-track positions may be renewed annually for up to three years, and are designed to provide mathematicians with favorable circumstances for academic career development in research and teaching in financial mathematics and related areas such as stochastic control and stochastic analysis. We have a very strong tradition in this area.

Assistant professorships have a teaching responsibility of 2-1 teaching loads; Byrne Research positions have even further reduced teaching loads. The teaching assignments will be in the Quantitative Finance and Risk Management Masters Program and the undergraduate program in financial mathematics.

These positions may be combined with other postdoctoral fellowships and grant funding, giving additional reductions in teaching responsibility. Preference is given to candidates who receive the Ph.D. degree in 2021 or later and who submit a completed application by December 15, 2021. Application materials should be submitted electronically through the AMS website: www.mathjobs.org. Alternatively, applications may be sent to: Postdoctoral Hiring Committee, Department of Mathematics, University of Michigan, 2074 East Hall, 530 Church Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109-1043. Salary is competitive and there are also opportunities for supplemental summer salary. Please provide a placement dossier consisting of a letter of application, curriculum vitae, and three letters of recommendation. In all cases, please provide a statement of teaching philosophy and experience, evidence of teaching excellence, and a statement of current and future research plans. The University of Michigan is supportive of the needs of dual career couples and is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer. The University is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we encourage applications from candidates who will contribute to furthering these goals.
