The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Freiburg invites applications for a Full Professorship (W3) for Pure Mathematics in the Department of Mathematics to be filled as soon as possible. The new professor is an internationally established researcher and expected to represent the field of geometry in research and teaching with research focussing on a modern area of geometry, as e.g differential geometry, global or geometric analysis, complex geometry or topology of manifolds. Collaboration with the existing research groups in pure mathematics and participation in joint third party funded projects is expected. The new professor will be director of the Department of Pure Mathematics in rotation with his/her colleagues. Further-more he or she will be expected to take an appropriate share in the general teaching obligations of the Institute of Mathematics as well as in academic self-governance. Prerequisites for the employment of Professors are a university degree, an outstanding dissertation and an excellent publication record. Substantial achievements and experience in academic research and teaching, at the level of a Habilitation according to the German academic system, are expected.
