The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#107340) at the rank of assistant/associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.

MTSU seeks candidates who are committed to innovative teaching, robust research/creative activity, and meaningful service. We also seek to attract a culturally and academically diverse faculty who value working with a diverse student body.

The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain an active research program involving undergraduates, master’s students, and students from interdisciplinary doctoral programs. A commitment to high-quality instruction and student mentoring is expected. The successful candidate is expected to pursue research in discrete mathematics or probability in a broad sense, and contribute to mathematics and data science programs. Areas of interest include but are not limited to, extremal and probabilistic combinatorics, graph theory, additive number theory, random graphs and matrices, discrete geometry, algebra, data science, network sciences, computer science, and bioinformatics. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to teach mathematics courses at all levels in the Department of Mathematics and supervise graduate students.

Required Education: A terminal degree in Mathematics. Salary and rank commensurate with education and experience.
