The Department of Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin service in August 2022. Applicants from all fields are welcome to apply, but the Department will be primarily interested in those applicants whose interests lie in statistics or data science. Winthrop University is a public, comprehensive university located in Rock Hill SC, about 30 minutes south of Charlotte NC. Winthrop has a diverse student population of approximately 5,000 undergraduate students and 1,000 graduate students; over two-thirds of Winthrop students are women, and over one-third are students of color. For more information, visit us at The Department of Mathematics provides undergraduate degrees in mathematics as well as a new undergraduate degree program in data science. The Department also has a history of strong support for undergraduate research. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics, statistics, and/or data science, as well as courses in the general education program;
  • Advising and mentoring of mathematics majors, including participation in undergraduate research;
  • Participating in professional service activities for the department, college, and university;
  • Continuing productive research/scholarly activities; and
  • Contributing to the creative and intellectual atmosphere of the department and university.
