Position: 

The Department of Mathematics at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member in Applied Mathematics at the rank of Assistant Professorship, to commence on August 24, 2022. 
 
The successful candidate will teach appropriate mathematics courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, and have evidence of strong research in Applied Mathematics with emphasis in Computational Science and Mathematics. While all applied mathematics and biomathematics areas will be given full consideration, preference will be given to applicants with expertise in interdisciplinary applications including but not limited to climate science, biomathematics, and wave propagation phenomena. The department strives to continue to increase the research activity of its faculty and students. The successful candidate is expected to support this mission by seeking external funding for their research. 

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, and service to the department, college, and university. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college and department in which he/she/they is/are housed for recommending tenure and promotion.

Required Qualifications: 

• Candidates must have a PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Biomathematics, or a related field from an accredited institution before August 24, 2022. 
• College or University-level teaching experience, 
• Related research experience 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Demonstrate effective engagement with a racially diverse student body 
• Research experience that includes working with students from diverse backgrounds 
• Experience adopting inclusive approaches to research and mentoring 
• Postdoctoral research or industrial experience

As part of the screening procedure application materials will be accessible to all tenured and tenure track faculty of the Department of Mathematics.
