Mathematics and Computer Science – Augustana College, Rock Island, IL, invites applications for two full-time, Tenure-Track Assistant Professor positions in the Mathematics and Computer Science department beginning in August of the 2022-2023 academic year. Augustana College is a selective liberal arts and sciences college of 2,400 students, including 19 percent first generation college students, 22 percent Pell Grant students, 23 percent students of color, and 13 percent international students. Our beautifully wooded and largely residential campus is located in Rock Island, IL, a diverse Illinois-Iowa Quad Cities metropolitan area along the Mississippi River with 400,000 residents about three hours west of Chicago. Strengthening our diverse and inclusive community is central to the college's mission and strategic plan. We seek applicants with an interest in fostering rigorous, inclusive, and high-impact learning environments for a diverse student body. Details about Augustana College, faculty life, and the Quad Cities all are available at Teaching at Augustana. Applicants should be interested in teaching a variety of undergraduate math courses across the department’s curriculum. The successful candidates will join a close-knit community of teacher-scholars who work collaboratively to educate the next generation of mathematicians. Faculty development benefits include a pre-tenure leave, professional meeting allowance, and institutional start-up grants to promote your scholarly interests.

Candidates will be evaluated on their potential for teaching excellence, ability and willingness to teach a wide variety of classes in a liberal arts environment, ability to engage undergraduate students in research or other projects, and commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. Review of applications will begin January 5th, 2022 and continue until the positions are filled.

A PhD in Mathematics or a related discipline is required at or near the time of appointment. Candidates with any area of expertise are encouraged to apply; however for one position preference will be given to individuals with experience in modeling, numerical methods and programming in Python.
