Department of Applied Mathematics
Mathematics Prestigious Postdoctoral Fellowships

Applications are invited for a limited number of distinguished postdoctoral fellowships awarded by the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo. The fellowships can be held in any of the five academic units of the Mathematics Faculty and have an anticipated start date of September 1, 2021 (or earlier). These positions are prestigious, two-year, research focussed, fellowships with a salary of $75,000/annum and an associated research grant of $15,000/annum.

In addition to engaging in research collaboration with a faculty member (or members) in the department, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain teaching experience (if desired). Candidates should indicate in their cover letter the names of faculty member(s) they propose to work with. These are highly selective fellowships (adjudicated by a Faculty-wide selection committee) and will be based on the candidate's outstanding research potential, availability of a supervisor, and fit with a research area in the department. All interested recent, outstanding PhDs are encouraged to apply.

The Department of Applied Mathematics has 30 faculty members, whose research interests include scientific computing, control theory, differential equations and dynamical systems, fluid dynamics, mathematical biology and medicine, and mathematical physics. The department has a substantial graduate program with over 120 graduate students pursuing Masters or PhD degrees, and strong undergraduate programs in applied mathematics and mathematical physics. More information about the department can be found at http://math.uwaterloo.ca/applied-mathematics/.

Applications for these fellowships are through the website MathJobs.org. Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae and a one-page research statement to www.MathJobs.org. Applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation, to be submitted through www.MathJobs.org website.

The application deadline is January 1, 2022.

We appreciate all replies to this advertisement, but only applicants under consideration will be contacted.
