The College of Science and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas Arlington invite applications for tenured faculty positions in Statistics and Data Science at the associate or full professor level to start in September 2022.

UT- Arlington is a public Doctoral University with Highest Research Activity (R1) in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education and part of the University of Texas system with an enrollment of about 40,000 students. The College of Science, consisting of departments of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Psychology, Chemistry, and Earth and Environmental Science, offers an interdisciplinary Undergraduate Data Science degree. The Department of Mathematics, which was recipient of 2013 American Mathematical Society Award for Exemplary Program or Achievement in a Mathematics Department, is a major center for mathematics research and education in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and north Texas, serving more than 10,000 students every year. It offers a variety of degree programs, including BA, BS, MA, MS, and PhD in Mathematics, Statistics and Mathematics Education and has about 100 graduate students. As part of the university's College of Science, the department actively encourages interdisciplinary research efforts at the interface between mathematics, statistics, science, engineering and local industries. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service as well as a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.

Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching and advising of undergraduate and graduate students in areas of statistics and data science and will have opportunities to develop courses that align with their research interests. . Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of research programs supported by external funding. Faculty are expected to have an active research program that broadens UT-Arlington's talent pool, collaborate with other faculty, supervise and mentor students of diverse backgrounds and interests, and be involved in service to the department, university, and the profession.

The minimum qualification is a doctoral degree in Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related area. Candidates are expected to have an internationally recognized research program and to have demonstrated a solid commitment to excellence in teaching, mentoring, and service. Full consideration will be given to applicants whose research interests align with the University’s Data Driven Discovery research objectives, in particular in the areas of statistical applications, theory, or methods; statistical machine learning; and data science
