Position Description:

We seek applications for post-doctoral research associate positions to work with Prof. Kavita Ramanan at the Division of Applied Mathematics at Brown University in the area of probability theory, stochastic processes and their applications. The positions are non-tenured positions that will be for one or two-years, possibly renewable up to three years, with a nominal start date of August 1, 2022. Candidates are required to have received a Ph.D. degree or equivalent by the start of this appointment and may have up to two years of prior academic and/or postdoctoral research experience. Applicants should have strong research potential, with expertise in probability theory, and preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one of the following fields: stochastic analysis, stochastic control, interacting particle systems, large deviations, high-dimensional probability and asymptotic geometric analysis. This will be a research-focused position, although there could also be opportunities for teaching and other pedagogical activities, including involvement with the Math CoOp and the SEAM seminar series.

The Division of Applied Mathematics values diversity and inclusion as essential to achieving excellence. Applications from those belonging to groups traditionally underrepresented in the mathematical sciences are very strongly encouraged. To apply, please submit through MathJobs an AMS cover sheet, a cover letter that should address your expertise in the listed fields and your reasons for applying to this particular position, a curriculum vitae with publication list, and a concise description of research interests and goals, as well as a one-page summary of past teaching and pedagogical experiences, including ideas for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and in the profession. We also require at least three letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin on December 15, 2021, although applications will continue to be reviewed till the position is filled. Inquiries should be sent electronically to Kavita Ramanan at with the subject heading "Post-doctoral Research Associate".
