JOB SUMMARY: The department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Adelphi University invites applications for one full-time tenure track position in Statistics (any area of expertise will be considered) at the rank of Assistant Professor, to start Fall 2022. We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching, and high–quality research in statistics are required.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in our undergraduate as well as graduate programs, which include the Bachelor of Science in Statistics, and the Master of Science. The candidate should be able to teach regression, experimental design, and survival analysis. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering diversity and inclusion while teaching a diverse student body. The candidate must maintain and expand a scholarly publication record, and serving as an active member of the Adelphi community by engaging in institutional service.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science is interested in further strengthening the diversity of its faculty and is committed to foster a diverse and inclusive environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Teach 18 credits annually (2-3 courses per semester), with possibilities to reduce course preparation by offering more than one section (if demand warrants) or repeating courses.

2. Teach a combination of undergraduate and master’s courses

3. Conduct research in topics relevant to Statistics and publish in peer-reviewed publications

4. Contribute to student growth and development through active involvement in student related activities (e.g., advising, working with student organizations). We are especially interested in candidates who can mentor student research.

5. Provide service to the university. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. A Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field with expertise in statistics or probability is required at time of appointment as a tenure-track member of the faculty.

2. A commitment to working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment. 3. A demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings.
