POSITION DESCRIPTION 
The Department of Mathematics (https://math.ucsd.edu), within the Division of Physical Sciences at the University of California, San Diego, is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body. We invite applications for an Excellence search at the Assistant Professor level in the area of Mathematical Biology. The position is subject to availability of funding. 

Teaching in mathematics and related topics will be expected. Ideally, candidates will have skills and interest in teaching lecture courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on UC pay scales. The starting date for the position is July 1, 2022.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) 
Demonstrated potential for a recognized program of excellence in both teaching and research. 

Additional qualifications (required at time of start) 
Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field prior to the first quarter of teaching
