The Department of Mathematics, Analytics and Technology in the College of Business, Influence, and Information Analysis (CBIAA) and the Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University invite applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Business Intelligence and Analytics beginning in August 2022. The Helzberg School of Management is AACSB accredited, and the analytics programs are nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report.

Founded in 1910 and located in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri, Rockhurst is a Catholic university in the Jesuit tradition committed to providing inclusive, innovative, and transformative education. As a comprehensive university and supportive community of nearly 4,000 students, our mission is to form lifelong learners in the liberal arts tradition who engage the complexities of our world and serve others as compassionate, thoughtful leaders.

Applicants must have a Doctoral degree (in for example, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, CS, Marketing, Physics, Finance, etc.) with a focus on Data Science, Applied Statistics, Analytics, and Machine Learning. Most classes are taught in R and Python.

ABDs with a documented plan of completion by the appointment date will be considered.

Responsibilities of this tenure-track position include engaging in scholarship to maintain AACSB currency, active participation in university, school, and professional service, and teaching 18 credit hours per year including undergraduate and graduate classes in our Business Intelligence and Analytics programs. Potential classes include Business Intelligence, Statistics, Text Mining, Applied Data Mining, Programming for Analytics, and Big Data Analytics.

We are searching for candidates with
  1. A strong commitment to actively engaging students in the learning process through innovative and equitable teaching practices (inquiry based/oriented learning, active learning, mastery-based grading, etc.) and a thorough use of technology.
  2. Demonstrated competency in delivery of online courses.
  3. Ability to look at analytics problems through a business lens.
  4. Ability to remain current on world-wide topics and trends related to business and industry
  5. Ability to attract and recruit students with diverse backgrounds.
