Salary Package: Senior Lecturer (Level C), from $132,004 to $151,806 per annum, or Associate Professor (Level D), from $158,533 to $174,378 per annum, or Professor (Level E), from $194,355 to $203,543 per annum, plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading. • Full-time, continuing • Macquarie University (North Ryde) location

THE ROLE We are looking to appoint an outstanding mathematician who is internationally renowned (if appointed as a Professor) or whose career trajectory is indicating being internationally renowned (if appointed as a Senior Lecturer or Associate Professor) to strategically strengthen our research excellence in one of our current areas of strength, including in analysis of partial differential equations, dynamics, waves and mathematical modelling. The candidate will provide leadership and mentorship within the School for the ongoing development of applied mathematics, leveraging their standing in the field to provide a focal point for the future development of the mathematics discipline at Macquarie University.

About Us The newly merged School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences represents a continuation of the traditions of the disciplines of Applied Mathematics, Astronomy, Physics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics at Macquarie University. Essential criteria for appointment at Senior Lecturer (Level C) • A PhD in Mathematics, or related field. • Demonstrated capacity to undertake outstanding research in applied mathematics aligned with School research areas as evidenced by publications in top tier journals • Demonstrated ability to secure research grant support from external funding agencies. • Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise graduate students and mentor research students and early career researchers • Demonstrated ability to teach across a wide range of courses in Mathematics similar to those offered by the School. • Willingness and to make a substantial contribution to all activities of the School, including in service and leadership. • Ability for executive administrative responsibilities. • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders.

Essential criteria for appointment at Associate Professor (Level D) • A PhD in Mathematics, or related field. • Demonstrated and sustained contributions to undertake outstanding research in applied mathematics as evidenced by ongoing publications in top tier journals and evidence of national or international recognition in the discipline. • Demonstrated and sustained ability to attract external research funding. • Demonstrated proficiency in teaching and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. • Willingness and capacity to make a substantial contribution to all activities of the School, including administration and planning. • Demonstrated professional leadership qualities and willingness for executive administrative responsibilities. • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders. • Demonstrated ability to mentor and ensure the successful development of early and/or mid-career academics.

Essential criteria for appointment at Professor (Level E) • A PhD in Mathematics, or related field. • Demonstrated outstanding contributions to research in applied mathematics aligned with School research areas as evidenced by ongoing publications in top tier journals and recognition as an eminent authority in the discipline. • Demonstrated ability to attract significant and sustained external research funding. • Proven excellence in teaching and innovative curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. • Willingness and capacity to make a substantial contribution to all activities of the School, including administration and planning. • Demonstrated professional leadership qualities and a capacity for executive administrative responsibilities. • Outstanding communication skills including the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders. • Ability and experience to mentor and ensure the successful development of early and/or mid-career academics.
