In the Department of Mathematics at Paderborn University, which is part of the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, the following position is to be filled as soon as pos-sible:

Research Assistant (f/m/d) (pay scale E13 TV-L)

with 100 % of the regular working time. Both doctoral candidates and postdocs are welcome.

It is a full-time qualification position to support a PhD-project in the field of Applied Mathematics. The initial contract is for three years but limited to the duration of the PhD-project. An extension to finish the PhD is possible in accordance with the rules of the WissZeitVG. For PostDocs, this is a qualifica-tion position in the sense of WissZeitVG, which is intended to contribute to qualification with regard to an academic career.

Area of responsibility: In the Applied Mathematics group of Prof. Dr. Sina Ober-Blöbaum there will be one scientific staff position to fill as soon as possible. The group's research topics are in the field of computational math-ematics and optimization with a particular focus on structure-preserving simulation methods and mod-ern engineering applications such as vehicle dynamics, space mission design or robotics. Current research projects include the areas of optimal control of differential equations, the development and analysis of numerical geometric integrators, the combination of mathematical methods with learning processes, and the use of symmetries in model predictive control.

Project description and area of responsibility • Development and analysis of modern numerical simulation methods • Participation in teaching, supervision of exercises and student work

Necessary requirements: • Scientific university degree (Doctorate or master's degree) in mathematics or related fields • Analytical thinking skills, teamwork and enthusiasm, independent work • Previous knowledge in the areas of differential equations, computational mathematics and optimization is advantageous • Programming knowledge in Matlab or a comparable programming language is advantageous • Good language skills in English
