*Stanford Online High School and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies offices are located at the Stanford Redwood City Campus, however this position will be performed completely online and requires you to have the ability, technology, and appropriate tools to successfully teach courses online. You must be located within the United States of America.*

The Mathematics and Computer Science Instructor will develop and instruct high school-level and early college-level Mathematics and/or Computer Science courses at Stanford’s Online High School. Classes meet synchronously twice a week throughout the academic year on a college-style schedule to engage in discussion of the course material. You will be encouraged to bring your advanced subject-level expertise to the class, challenging students in ways not typically found in high school. In addition to working with students in and outside of the classroom, you will engage regularly with peers within your academic division to consider curriculum and pedagogy, as well as collaborate with instructors and staff throughout the school.

Your responsibilities include:

Prepare for class, lead engaging synchronous online discussion sections with small class sizes, meet with students during office hours, and assist students in using additional resources to achieve course learning objectives.

Monitor student progress, give feedback, grade assessments, and team with students, parents, Division Head, counseling staff, and administrative staff in support of student success.

Assist with development and revision of curricula to incorporate the latest approaches in the discipline, including effective pedagogy and classroom best practices.

Engage with the student community as an advisor to student clubs, leader of a weekly homeroom, and/or coach in the wellness program. Participate in other OHS community events in-person and online such as Homecoming and Graduation.

Develop and teach residential summer mini-courses.

Serve on school committees and other collaborative groups with colleagues.

To be successful in this position, you will bring:

Master’s or Doctorate degree (or equivalent course work) in subject area relevant to that being taught by instructor.

One year experience teaching at the high school/college level, or equivalent.

Facility with teaching traditional and online courses

Proficiency using computer applications, including those used for video conferencing, document production, and information management

In addition, preferred requirements include:

Competency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or R. Physical Requirements: Frequently stand/walk, sit, perform desk-based computer tasks, and use a telephone.

Must be able to conduct real-time voice-video seminars and spend 15-20 hours per week in front of a computer screen. May work extended or non-standard hours based on project or business needs. Occasional travel may be required. Why Stanford is for You
