The Department of Mathematics & Statistics, University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Statistics from fall 2022.

The appointment is for nine months per year. Applicants should have completed the requirements of the PhD degree in statistics/biostatistics prior to the starting date and should show promise of both teaching and research. Candidates in all areas of theoretical and applied statistics will be considered, including (but not limited to): Machine Learning/Data Science/Causal Inference/Biostatistics. The candidate is expected to teach one course per semester and interact with the statistics faculty in the department. UMBC recently joined the ranks of R1 research universities according to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. It is located in the Baltimore-Washington corridor near major medical schools and federal agencies. The statistics faculty at UMBC actively interact with federal agencies such as the Census Bureau, FDA, NIH, and EPA that afford extensive opportunities for research collaboration. In addition, the Department’s annual Probability & Statistics Day conference offers excellent networking opportunities.
