Department The FSU Division of Undergraduate Studies works to help students develop sound academic preparation for their major field of study and to encourage all undergraduate students to achieve their full potential. The FSU Panama City Undergraduate Studies and First Time in College (FTIC) program seeks to hire a full-time, resident Mathematics Faculty member to support its mission of preparing students for upper-level coursework. We invite applications for a Teaching Faculty position in Mathematics at the FSU Panama City campus in Panama City, FL. This position is being advertised as a 9- or 12-month renewable full-time, specialized, non-tenure track teaching faculty position with opportunities for promotion and multi-year contracts. Level commensurate with education and experience. The position will begin in Fall 2022 and consideration will be provided for an earlier start date if circumstances warrant it. Responsibilities Primary responsibilities include: Teaching small undergraduate courses in Mathematics such as College Algebra, Precalculus, Trigonometry, Calculus, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Complex Variables, etc. Mentoring and working closely with students. Working with colleagues in the Mathematics Department in Tallahassee and Panama City to assist course coordination. Engaging in service to the Undergraduate Studies program and campus. Additional leadership and administrative opportunities are possible, if qualifications allow, and engagement in research is possible, though research is not a required component of the teaching faculty position.

Qualifications Candidates must have a doctoral degree in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics from an accredited institution, or a doctorate in a related field with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in mathematics.

Preferred Preference will be given to those with previous university teaching experience and who can teach a variety of mathematics courses to support our undergraduate studies program. Other preferred skills and experience: Expertise in learning management systems (e.g., WileyPLUS, MyLab Math and ALEKS), use of the Canvas learning management system, participation and leadership in STEM outreach activities, demonstrated success in working with diverse populations, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a variety of constituents.
