Department of Mathematics London Applications are invited for a full-time Research Fellow position to work with Dr Shoham Letzter on the project Expanders in ''Ramsey theory and extremal combinatorics''. This position is part of the Royal Society University Research Fellowship (URF), entitled ‘‘Ramsey theory and extremal combinatorics’’ and held by Dr Shoham Letzter. The responsibilities of the post will include: carrying out vigorous, high-level research in the area of in combinatorics, submitting publications regularly in refereed journals; participating in local seminars and in national and international conferences. This post is available from 1 April 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter and is funded for 12 months in the first instance. Candidates should either have a PhD in mathematics, in combinatorics or a related subject area, or should be finalising their PhD or waiting for their viva date. Please note: Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent on award and confirmation of a PhD (or equivalent). If this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B, point 26 (salary £33,958 per annum inclusive of London allowance) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis. The successful candidate should have a strong background in extremal or probabilistic combinatorics, a proven track record in research and publishing commensurate with their career stage. They should demonstrate a desire to work at the heart of, and fully participate in, an active research group in combinatorics and have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. An outstanding candidate will have the ability to contribute ideas for new research projects and have a record of presenting mathematics research at national and international conferences, meetings and/or workshops.
