The Department of Mathematics at the University of Evansville seeks to hire two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning in August 2022. 


Responsibilities: 

The successful applicants will be expected to teach 18-21 hours per year of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses, maintain a program of scholarship, participate in departmental initiatives, assist in recruitment, and serve the University as called upon. We will only consider applicants committed to excellence in teaching and advising undergraduates.  

 

Qualifications: 

Position 1: 

A Ph.D. in statistics, data science, OR Ph.D. in mathematics plus significant experience in statistics or a related field is required. Documented excellence in teaching undergraduate math or statistics courses and an active program of scholarship or statistical consultancy are expected. Experience with computer programming and familiarity with R or Python is a plus. The successful applicant for this position will demonstrate the ability to assist in overseeing and developing a program in applied statistics and data science. 

 

Position 2: 

A Ph.D. in mathematics, statistics, data science, actuarial science, or a related field; documented excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics or statistics courses; and an active program of scholarship are required. Applications from any area of mathematical sciences will be considered, but preference will be given to candidates with experience in actuarial science, statistics, or data science. The ideal applicant would have a record of excellence in teaching a wide range of mathematics and statistics courses.
