Applications are invited for an Assistant/ Associate Professor post in the School of Mathematics, in the area of Statistics and Data Science (broadly interpreted).

The School of Mathematics is committed to significantly expand its research and education programmes in Statistics and Data Science. The successful candidate will be expected to make significant contribution to these programmes, by conducting high-quality research in related areas and developing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate education in Statistics and Data Science. In addition, the successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the school through management/leadership, and enterprise activities, as appropriate.

The minimum qualification is a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics or a related area. Candidates are expected to have or clearly be developing an internationally recognized research record, and a solid commitment to teaching, mentoring and service. Associate Professor candidates will demonstrate experience in attracting external funding. Full consideration will be given to applicants in any areas related to Mathematical Data Science, including but not limited to , Statistics, Machine Learning, Scientific Computing, Uncertainty Quantification and Optimisation. We also welcome strong teaching-focused applicants, but your teaching interests must be in Statistics, Data Science or a related area.

It possesses a vibrant and inclusive research and teaching culture with many visitors, seminars, international conferences and workshops being hosted and organised by its members.
