Job Summary:

The College of Science at the University of Texas Arlington invites applications for a non-tenure track faculty position in Data Science at the Assistant Professor of Instruction level. The open position is primarily a teaching appointment aimed at servicing introductory Data Science, computational, and programming courses within UTA’s College of Science bachelor's in data science Program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in teaching Data Science related courses and cover 3 Data Science related courses and their associated labs. Required qualifications: Candidates for Assistant Professor of Instruction must have a doctoral degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a data-intensive scientific field. Preferred qualifications: The Assistant Professor of Instruction should show proficiency in techniques, programming languages, and software stack employed in contemporary Data Science. Candidates must demonstrate a solid commitment to teaching excellence and should share the university’s core values of fostering an open and inclusive environment that promotes diversity and participation of groups that are currently underrepresented in the fields of Data Science.

Special Conditions for Eligibility: Full consideration will be given to applicants who have worked as a Data Scientist or have experience in Data Science research or teaching. Department and College/School Information The College of Science is pushing the boundaries of knowledge by equipping students to innovate, discover, and learn. We have almost 4,000 students in six departments: Biology, Chemistry & Biochemistry, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology, as well as our new Data Science program.
