Job Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics Classification: Full-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure-track faculty position Reports To: STEM Division Head Job Summary/Objective: Sweet Briar College invites applications for a non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics faculty position. This position has the possibility for reappointment or for appointment to the tenure-track. The successful candidate will be an engaged scholar-teacher and have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. They will be expected to teach both the foundational and advanced undergraduate courses to support our mathematics major as well as our other STEM majors. Preference will be given to candidates with a statistics or applied mathematics background. The College’s academic calendar, with immersive three-week terms bookending traditional 12-week terms, creates an opportunity for innovative courses to take advantage of close student faculty interactions and collaboration across disciplines. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make contributions to our women’s leadership core curriculum and engage in research with undergraduates.

Required Qualifications: * All but degree in an accredited Ph.D. program in a mathematical discipline, applied math or statistics; * Demonstrated excellence in teaching; * Demonstrated interest in working across disciplines and engaging in collaborative scholarship, teaching, and service; and * Excellent communication skills.

Preferred qualifications * Ph.D. in a mathematical discipline, applied math or statistics.
