Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) is a private comprehensive research university in South Korea. The institution traces its origins to the historic Sungkyunkwan, founded in 1398 and located in Seoul and Suwon. The university spends heavily on research and development, mostly sponsored by Samsung, Hyundai, and government agencies, producing high-end research scientists. The Basic Research Laboratory (BRL) of Applied Mathematics at the SKKU invites applications for post-doctoral researcher (up to 2 positions) beginning from August 1, 2022; the start date can be negotiable. The BRL is equivalent to the Focused Research Groups in NSF, and the title of our BRL group is "Towards Bridging the Gap Between Numerical PDE and Machine Learning". We are looking for candidates with outstanding research potential in all fields of applied mathematics with emphasis on numerical analysis, machine learning, and partial differential equations. The BRL group consists of three leading professors: Youngjoon Hong (Department of Mathematics, Department of Artificial Intelligence) and Seok-Bae Yun (Department of Mathematics), and Eunbyung Park (Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Department of Artificial Intelligence). The appointment is initially for two years with a starting annual salary 60,000,000 KRW. The appointment can be extended for one more years after reviews of the research performance.
