Proficiency with the statistical software package R is required.  We welcome applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths or who have achieved excellence in statistical careers outside of academia.

 Applications should include:

      A CV.

A cover letter that addresses (at a minimum) the candidate’s training in statistics if they do not have a Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics and their prior experience with the statistical software program, R.

A diversity statement that addresses how the candidate’s teaching, scholarship, mentoring, and/or community service might support Reed’s commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College’s diversity statement (http://www.reed.edu/diversity). Reed College is a community that believes that cultural diversity is essential to the excellence of our academic program.

A teaching statement that addresses the candidate’s goals and practices regarding teaching statistics. Applicants may want to refer to course descriptions found here: https://www.reed.edu/math/courses.html.       A research statement that addresses the candidate’s research interests within statistics and data science. Applicants are encouraged to describe possible senior thesis project ideas based on their experience or research. More information on the Reed senior thesis can be found here: https://www.reed.edu/apply/academics/thesis.html.

Three letters of recommendation, at least one should address teaching. (Note: in the interest of time, a review of the application may begin before these letters are received.  So please submit the rest of the required materials as soon as you have them.)
