Position Description:    

This position will be expected to conduct research and collaborate with a strong background in mathematical biology and applied mathematics and/or data science. The scholar will work with Prof. Zixuan Cang on data-driven modeling and topological and geometric data analysis for biology, with a special emphasis on data integration, inferring biological processes, and machine learning, etc. for single-cell and spatial omics data.  The scholar is expected to teach two courses per year. The particular courses are assigned by the department after close consultation with the scholar. 

This position is expected to have a strong background in applied mathematics and/or data science and scientific computing. Experience in biology is preferred but optional. The position is expected to have a strong background in applied mathematics and/or data science and scientific computing. The position will conduct research and collaboration with Prof. Zixuan Cang on data-driven modeling and topological and geometric data analysis for biology, especially interested in data integration, inferring biological processes, and machine learning, etc. for single-cell and spatial omics data.  A Ph.D. in mathematics, applied mathematics, mathematical biology, computational biology, or related fields is required. 


The postdoctoral scholar will :

  1. be supported to attend conferences/workshops in the related fields at least once year 
  2. receive training on publishing in journals in mathematics or biology 
  3. participate in grant writing and receive training on writing his/her own grants 
  4. have the opportunity to collaborate with researchers in mathematics and biology.
