The Laboratory of Combinatorial and Geometric Structures under the direction of Professor János Pach at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT or Phystech) launches a call to fill several postdoctoral positions (starting 2 years + 1 year possible prolongation) in Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science.

The Laboratory specializes in Discrete Geometry and Combinatorics, and also has experts in other areas. Please consult the list of Lab members, as well as the list of activities organized by the Lab, at https://combgeo.org/en/

We are looking for applicants working in combinatorics, geometry and topology, discrete probability, as well as related topics in theoretical computer science. We offer a friendly working environment, integration into the Moscow mathematical community and an attractive salary. Net salary range is 100'000-140'000 RUB, which is equivalent to about 1400-2000 USD depending on the (currently extremely unstable) exchange rate (an average salary is about 95’000 RUB in Moscow city and about 60’000 RUB in the greater Moscow area). The salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as teaching load. The teaching load (in English) is relatively light, and generally not required.

Phystech is one of the leading Russian universities in the areas of mathematics, physics and technology. Its founders and first professors include Nobel Prize winners P. Kapitsa, N. Semenov and L. Landau. Phystech is located in the town of Dolgoprudny outside Moscow and is well-connected to both Moscow city (40 min via commuter train) and Sheremetyevo Airport (30 min by car), which is one of the three Moscow’s international airports.

When applying, please consider the possible difficulties and risks in coming to Moscow in the current political situation. Note that at the moment, we cannot allow for remote work, so physical presence in Russia most of the time is required. From our side, we will do our best to provide you the necessary support.

Applications should be sent to Viktor Mironov (viktor.mironov@phystech.edu) and include a CV with a list of papers and a research statement (no more than 2 pages). Moreover, at least 2 reference letters are required: the letters should be sent by your reference writers directly to the e-mail address above. The deadline for applications is September 1, 2022. Late applications can be considered in exceptional cases.

We are not accepting applications for this job through MathJobs.Org right now. Please see the job description above on how to apply.
