*** this fellowship has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Applications of Data Science to Math Education. This fellowship provides opportunities to engage in research in close collaboration with Crowdmark  as a MITACS Accelerate  intern.  The goal of this collaboration is to develop a supervised machine learning methodology to construct, and analyze the effectiveness of, an "early intervention" system for students entering university-level Calculus.

The ideal candidate will have interest in statistical machine learning and/or scholarship of teaching and learning, in addition to experience using Python and GitHub. The candidate should have basic experience with data science, with a preference for experience with natural language processing and classification of free response text.

The fellowship is open to candidates of any nationality and selection will be based primarily on the candidate's suitability to the research goals of the existing project. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Caroline Junkins at McMaster Univeristy and Dr. James Colliander at Crowdmark.  The projected starting date of the fellowship is September 1, 2022.  This fellowship is a 12-month position with a stipend salary of $50,000 and some additional funding for research expenses. This fellowship does not have a required teaching component.
