The Department of Statistics in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants for a full time Lecturer III position to begin August 29, 2022. This is a non-tenure track position with a university year appointment. Duties and responsibilities for this Lecturer III position are expected to include teaching large introductory statistics courses, primarily Stats 250, and possibly Stats 206. The administrative responsibilities include undergraduate advising and serving on the department curriculum committee. A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer III in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester or the equivalent in administrative and/or service duties. Your teaching load with a 100 % appointment is 3 courses per semester. The administrative duties described above are equivalent to one course load reduction per year. Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field and have an extensive background in teaching introductory statistics courses and coordinating large instructional teams. We will consider applicants who anticipate completing their PhD within one year of the starting date. Excellence in teaching and instructional service will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.
