The Department of Mathematics at Manhattan College seeks a committed teacher-scholar for a full-time position at the Visiting Assistant Professor rank, beginning with the Fall 2022 semester. The contract term is for one year, beginning August 2022, with the possibility of renewal. The Mathematics Department offers courses to all Schools in the College, and the course schedule is likely to include service courses. The class sizes are small, generally below thirty students, and the teaching load is twenty-one credits per year.

Responsibilities:

The qualified applicant will teach courses in the Mathematics Department, including service courses. The teaching load will be twenty-one credits per year. He/she will also participate in Department and College service activities and is encouraged to engage in scholarly activities and/or professional development.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

The ideal candidate will hold, or be nearing the completion of, a PhD in the mathematical sciences. Candidates holding a Master Degree and having significant teaching experience will also be considered, but would be appointed at a lower rank. All areas of mathematics will be considered. Candidates will be evaluated on their academic background, communication skills, potential for excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, potential for service to the college, and ability to bring new ideas to the mathematics program. Teaching experience is strongly preferred.
