2-year Postdoc in Number Theory

Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University (Prague) invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Number Theory.

The position will be funded by Prof. Kala's project UFOCLAN: Universal Quadratic Forms and Class Numbers awarded by the Czech Science Foundation. Knowledge of Czech is not necessary and no teaching is required. Due to restrictions of the grant agency, applicants must have received their Ph.D. within the last 8 years (exceptions are possible in cases of parental leave and long-term sickness).

The expected duration of the position is March 1, 2023 - September 30, 2025 (negotiable, but the position must start at latest on July 1, 2023).

Strong applicants from all areas of number theory (broadly interpreted) are welcome to apply, although preference may be given to algebraic and/or computational number theory.

The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University is the leading institution in mathematics in Czechia, with highly motivated and well educated students in our mathematics programs. The School of Mathematics has about 110 academic positions, covering most of the major areas of mathematics. The Department of Algebra, where the position will be hosted, offers an open minded international environment, with outstanding conditions for independent research. We currently have about 15 permanent and 15 postdoctoral employees, including approx. 20 international researchers and 5 number theorists.
