Texas Christian University Fort Worth, Texas Department of Mathematics http://www.math.tcu.edu

The Department of Mathematics at Texas Christian University (TCU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position with a focus in Statistics or Actuarial Science beginning in August 2023. The successful applicant will be interested in assuming a long-term leadership role in our Actuarial Science program and also supporting our joint Data Science program with the Department of Computer Science. Expectations with respect to the Actuarial Science program will include teaching upper-level statistics courses, mentoring undergraduate research projects, and, eventually, undergraduate advising, career placement support, and administrative responsibility for the program. Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and must possess a Ph.D. by August 2023 in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Data Science, or equivalent. Excellent research, teaching, and service potential are expected.

Founded in 1873, TCU is a secular institution of approximately 12,000 students with a faculty devoted to excellence in teaching. Regularly recognized as a “Great College to Work For,” TCU prioritizes diversity and inclusion in students, staff, and faculty; highly engaged and interdisciplinary learning; and community engagement. The Department of Mathematics currently has 19 full-time faculty members, approximately 125 majors, and a small graduate program offering M.A.T., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The university is located within the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, a vibrant metropolitan area of about 8 million people.

Candidates should apply through MathJobs (http://www.mathjobs.org/) and must also submit information through the TCU HR system. For the application on MathJobs, submit (a) an AMS cover sheet; (b) a complete vita, including a list of publications; (c) a research plan; (d) a teaching statement; (e) a diversity, equity, and inclusion statement, (f) copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts; and (g) three or more confidential letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the candidate’s teaching in detail. Candidates are strongly encouraged to describe in their application materials how they might support the university and department priorities described above. The posting in the TCU HR system can be found at https://jobs.tcu.edu/en-us/job/498126/assistant-professor-mathematics. Here, candidates must fill out a brief application, which consists of contact information and the voluntary AA/EEO survey form, and upload a letter of application and their vita. Applicants who have not submitted the required documents at both sites will not be considered.

Applicants who submit all materials by January 3, 2023 will be guaranteed full consideration. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

As an AA/EEO employer, TCU recruits, hires, and promotes qualified persons in all job classifications without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, national origin, ethnic origin, disability, genetic information, covered veteran status, or any other basis protected by law. The University is dedicated to the goal of building a culturally diverse and pluralistic faculty and staff and strongly encourages applications from women, minorities, individuals with disabilities, and veterans. At TCU, diversity, equity, and inclusion are an educational imperative that is tied directly to our University mission and vision.
