The Department of Mathematics at the University of Florida seeks to fill one tenure-track position in the area of Probability (broadly interpreted) at the Assistant Professor level, beginning August 16, 2023.

Candidates should have an established research program, a compelling plan for future research, the ability to supervise both graduate and undergraduate research, and a commitment to excellence in teaching. A Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a closely related field is required. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package. The successful candidate will join a vibrant department of approximately 60 faculty and 85 graduate students pursuing research in a broad array of pure and applied areas. The University of Florida is ranked the 5th best public university in the United States by US News and World Report 2022. The university and greater Gainesville community enjoy an abundance of cultural events and year-round outdoor recreational activities.

Over the past several years the University has made significant investments in faculty and infrastructure, adding hundreds of new faculty lines and upgrading classroom and laboratory facilities. The University is home to HiPerGator, one of the most powerful high-performance computers at a US public university (www.rc.ufl.edu/services/hipergator/), and recently added the new AI NVIDIA GPU SuperPod (https://news.ufl.edu/2020/07/nvidia-partnership/) in support of the AI initiative, which aims to expand the role of AI in higher education and research (https://ai.ufl.edu). These facilities are available to all faculty on campus to enhance their teaching and research.
