The Department of Statistics at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for one or more Postdoctoral Scholars working with Dr. Michael Schweinberger. The postdoctoral scholars are expected to work on one of two sets of problems, one of them computational-statistical and the other statistical-theoretical:

- a set of computational-statistical problems concerned with networks and sampling with applications to covert networks, in collaboration with researchers at the University of New South Wales, Sydney and the University of Melbourne, Australia;

- a set of statistical-theoretical problems concerned with networks, space, time, or causal inference based on discrete and dependent data, either Bayesian or non-Bayesian.

If desired, the postdoctoral scholars may teach one course in the Department of Statistics per year, but postdoctoral scholars are not expected to teach.

A Ph.D. in statistical science or data science is required at the time of appointment. Successful applicants will be expected to have a strong statistical background, research experience showing independence and innovation, and demonstrated academic writing skills. The initial appointment is funded for one year from the date of hire with a possibility of refunding.
