Position Description:    

The Mathematics Department at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks exceptional candidates to fill a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the area of Topology, starting August 1, 2023. Candidates in all areas of topology, pure and/or applied, are encouraged to apply. A PhD or equivalent degree in mathematics must be earned by the time of appointment. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Evidence of potential for excellence in research and high-quality teaching is required.

Review of applications will begin on November 1, 2022 and continue until the position is filled. The Knoxville campus of the University of Tennessee is seeking candidates who have the ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural goals of the University. Mathematics department policy ensures that an effort is made to assign members of underrepresented groups to key committees, while protecting against excessive workloads that might impede research activity.

Starting salaries for assistant professors in the Mathematics Department are very competitive. For eleven of the last twelve years, the State and/or the University have provided funds for raises.
