Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS) This is an exciting opportunity to join the Department of Mathematical Sciences (DMS). The Department is a growing and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. DMS is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students.

The Department is looking to appoint one academic in Statistics and Data Science and two academics in Statistics to be a part of the department expansion strategy to improve its research profile in statistics and statistics and data science and the provision of statistics and data science teaching and learning. The post may include teaching on our actuarial science, data science and statistics courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering statistics, data science, or actuarial science modules with existing lecture materials and developing new master level modules. It will also include supervising Statistics, Data Science and Actuarial Science master students.

Duties will include designing, planning and delivering learning across a range of modules or within subject area, assess and feed back to learners, supervise student projects, fieldwork and placements, engaging successfully and effectively in substantive teaching and generating research income appropriate in scale to career stage.

At Senior Lecturer and Reader level you will make significant research-led and pedagogically informed contributions to module/curriculum design and development.

To be successful you will have evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes and evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile, along with a relevant doctoral level research degree or related discipline or equivalent professional experience or practice or be close to completion of PhD. You will also have experience of designing and planning learning activities, developing effective learning environments and approaches to student support and guidance and research interests in some field of data science and statistical methodology, such as computational statistics, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
