Applications are invited for two non-tenure-track full-time Lecturer positions in the Department of Mathematics (position numbers 00053035 and 00700133) to begin in the Fall semester of 2023. Applicants are expected to hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a related field by the time of appointment, although exceptional candidates with an M.S. will be considered. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching and education. The expected teaching load will be seven courses per year (Fall and Spring semesters) in a range of undergraduate math courses. Interested applicants should submit: 1) a cover letter 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) at least two letters of recommendation, one of which must specifically address teaching, 4) a teaching statement, and 5) a 1-page statement on how the applicant will enhance the diversity of our faculty and best serve a diverse student body. Candidates are also encouraged to submit supporting material such as evidence of successful teaching and/or pedagogical skills (e.g., instructional materials, sample student evaluations, or artifacts from supervision of undergraduate research). The SMU Department of Mathematics offers B.S. and B.A. degrees in Mathematics, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computational and Applied Mathematics. The department is currently comprised of 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, three Senior Lecturers, two Lecturers, four Visiting Professors, and three Adjunct Professors.
