The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Texas invites applications for the position of Department Chair. The normal term of appointment is 4 years, renewable. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics, an academic record allowing appointment as a Full Professor with tenure, and an established research program. Preference will be given to applicants having a record of external funding, administrative experience, a distinguished record of teaching, and demonstrated ability to work with faculty and administrators across the university. Mathematics is a comprehensive department with 37 faculty, including research faculty in both pure and applied math as well as statistics. We offer degrees through the Ph.D. and have approximately 250 majors and 60 graduate students. UNT is a public research university with an R1 Carnegie classification enrolling over 44,000 students, making it one of the largest universities in Texas and the 33rd largest in the nation.
