The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Florida Atlantic University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in mathematical data science, broadly defined, starting in August 2023. We are seeking outstanding researchers with diverse computational, statistical, and mathematical skills as well as experience in interdisciplinary research in the life sciences. We are interested in candidates whose research areas broadly relate to theory or applications of data science. An ideal candidate should have a background in research that complements the ongoing research in the data science and applied analysis group in the department. These include topological data analysis, machine learning, dynamical systems, applications of data science in biology/life sciences, computational biology, and mathematical, statistical, and AI modeling in the life sciences. The successful candidate is expected to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, initiate and carry out independent research, apply/secure external funding and provide service to the department, the university, and the profession.

Diversity and Inclusion are core values of the Department of Mathematical Sciences. We believe that the educational environment is enhanced when diverse groups of people with diverse ideas come together to learn. Applicants whose work incorporates a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to diversity of thought in higher education are particularly encouraged to apply.

Informal inquiries can be addressed to: Dr. Necibe Tuncer, Chair of the Search Committee, (ntuncer@fau.edu ). Review of applications will begin January 15, 2023 and will continue until the position is filled.
