The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Texas invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in statistics with the expected appointment to begin in Fall 2023. Responsibilities of this position are to pursue research in statistics or a related field, advise graduate students in statistics, and teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester with teaching reductions given during the initial years of appointment and for substantial grant support. Minimum qualifications are a Ph.D. in statistics at the time of appointment, a record of high-quality research and publications, and evidence of a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Preference will be given to outstanding applicants with previous academic research experience and/or college teaching experience. The Department of Mathematics is a comprehensive department with 37 faculty, including research faculty in both pure and applied math as well as statistics. We offer degrees through the Ph.D. and have approximately 250 majors and 60 graduate students.
