Job Description

 

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science seeks two dynamic colleagues committed to fostering teaching excellence and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and diversity. The new faculty members will join a collaborative group of 24 mathematics and statistics faculty who serve the entire campus community.


The Department of Mathematics & Statistics invites applications for two full time, 9-month non-tenure track faculty positions. Descriptions of those positions are given below:

  • Position 1 - a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professional Professor of Mathematics. The successful candidate will teach primarily mathematics education courses in addition to other mathematics courses. 
  • Position 2 - a full-time, non-tenure track Assistant Professional Professor of Mathematics. The successful candidate will teach a wide range of mathematics/statistics/data science courses.

Responsibilities


Although both postings are non-tenure track positions, progression in rank to professional associate professor and professional professor position is possible. Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Math Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate mathematics, math ed., data science, and/or statistics courses.
  • Breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment and experience in teaching math education courses for teachers and math educators for the mathematics education position
  • Demonstrated commitment and preparation for excellence in teaching higher-level mathematics courses for the mathematics position
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in performing service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations at the college level.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
