This position offers a particularly exciting opportunity, in the emerging interdisciplinary Data Science field. Our program spans two departments (Computer and Information Science and Mathematics) that together are advancing an innovative and exciting program of study in this field.

Our tight-knit community is active, with our Programming team placing second in this spring's CCSC-NE programming competition and volunteer opportunities available for sharing knowledge with classmates, the university, and the community. In the last year, our students have landed internships and jobs with some of the country's top technology companies. We provide a supportive community, where faculty and students work together on learning the latest technologies, always with a focus on helping each individual achieve their personal goals.

The Department of Mathematics at Westfield State University supports active major and minor programs, teacher education programs, vibrant extracurricular mathematics student activities, undergraduate research, actuarial program, and internship programs. Departmental research and scholarship span many areas of mathematics, mathematics education, and teacher education. Our faculty members provide scholarship and campus-wide leadership in the use of cooperative learning, teaching with technology, inquiry based and guided discovery learning, and other areas of teaching innovation.
