Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Centre Manager Professional Services, £51,115 - £61,549 per annum Location: White City Campus Ref: ENG02343

Applications are invited to run a prestigious Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Centre which seeks to accelerate the transformation of scientific research using AI. This will be based in I-X Imperial’s new Flagship AI campus. The Eric and Wendy Schmidt Centre for AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellows, a program of Schmidt Futures will support over 110 years of independent and original research by fellows using AI to advance Science. The grant lasts 6 years with over twenty fellows hosted in any year. The fellowship resource will be used to seek matching funding from college, national and international partners. The Centre will have a pro-social orientation with an emphasis on kindness and ways in which the advantage it creates can in turn create opportunities in local schools and for researchers in Lower and Middle Income countries. The Centre manager has an essential role in realising these outcomes in a role which combines managing and administering the fellowship programme and Centre with co-ordination of funding stakeholders and strategy.

Duties and responsibilities The Key responsibilities are: 1) To manage and administer the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Centre for AI in Science; 2) To organise and administer the recruitment, induction, training, events and travel of the Fellows; 3) To lead on financial reporting, and co-leading research reporting, to Schmidt Futures, the funder; 4) To collaborate with the Director in securing matching funding for fellows and coordinating this matching with Imperial, National and International partners; 5) To act as a key point of contact for the Centre, demonstrating an assured and informative approach to staff as well as to people from outside the College, including visitors.

Essential requirements The essential requirements for this post include a postgraduate degree, significant experience in the higher education sector, significant experience in developing and managing financial and other resources and Proven strategic leadership skills, including the ability to develop operational plans and realise their execution.
