The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Houston – Downtown is inviting applications for two positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications, to begin August 2023. A Ph.D degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computational Science, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or related fields is required by May 2023. We will consider all fields of specialization, but preference will be given to candidates who can make immediate contributions to the vibrant interdisciplinary culture of the department which includes degrees in data science, statistics, and mathematics. The successful applicant will be expected to be an excellent instructor and mentor; being able to teach data science, statistics, and mathematics courses; pursue a research program; and provide service to the department, university, and the profession.
