Assistant Professor of Statistics–Mathematical Sciences ATTENTION: The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the College of Letters and Science at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2023. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate courses in Statistics and Mathematics, maintaining an active research agenda, and providing service to the university, community, and profession. JOB DETAILS: The successful candidate will be able to teach statistics and mathematics courses for general education as well as courses in the mathematics majors. This full-time position is based at the Stevens Point main campus and involves courses primarily taught in person. There is a possibility of teaching assignments at the Wausau campus or Marshfield campus, and of online or hybrid courses. Maintaining an active research agenda and providing leadership and service to the university, community, and profession are required for tenure. A typical teaching load is twelve credit hours per semester. QUALIFICATIONS: Required Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in statistics, actuarial science, data analytics, or mathematics education with a focus on statistics education awarded before August 2023. Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching. Demonstrated success and/or interest in teaching first- and second-year statistics and mathematics courses. Preferred Qualifications: Desirable candidates should have experience teaching with current educational tools and methods. Experience teaching diverse groups will be considered a plus, as will experience and/or demonstrated commitment to online course development and teaching.
