The Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (MST) in the College of Arts & Sciences (COAS) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide Campus invites candidates to apply for the position of a fully remote (U.S.) full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Data Science. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a new Applied Data Science minor and teach courses in data science and related disciplines, such as statistics. In addition, the candidate will establish a promising research trajectory in Data Science that includes interdisciplinary projects that enhance undergraduate STEM education. The salary is commensurate with experience and includes a benefits package with retirement matching and health insurance.

The full-time remote (U.S.), 10-month position begins August 1, 2023.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in data science, statistics, applied mathematics, or a related field by August 1, 2023
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching
  • Potential for excellence in data science research
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Online/virtual teaching experience
  • Established or promising trajectory of research in data science
  • Interest in collaborative educational research

The Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology offers general education courses in physical and life sciences, mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The Department houses the Interdisciplinary Studies degree program and four minors. In addition to currently developing a Data Science minor, MST is working towards developing a Data Science major. With a primary focus on the early onset of the higher education experience (i.e., the first two collegiate years), the department is dedicated to research on inclusive education, learning practices, processes, structures, and methods while offering students engaging and impactful educational opportunities. Faculty in MST work closely with the other COAS departments – Behavioral & Social Sciences, Humanities & Communication, and Security & Emergency Services - in curriculum and research.
